Position Summary:

The Nurse Manager (RN) for the Center for Healing and Recovery functions as a leader of the medical services team that provides screening, crisis intervention, medical services, case coordination, and education. The Nurse Manager utilizes best practices to engage and help motivate staff in providing excellent patient care, and patients to commit to treatment and to assist patients to identify and problem-solve individual and systemic barriers to treatment. Experience with Substance Use population preferred. This position can work with the Division Director and Medical Director to create a schedule that best fits the individual and the organization. RN's work a typical twelve-hour shift, and this manager serves as possible back-up to the on-duty RN - if no other coverage is possible.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan, schedule, organize, and direct staffing for the medically managed detox unit, including: Serve as the Clinical Supervisor for the Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Registered Nurse Care Manager. Monitor clinical documentation of personnel to ensure adherence to organization, state and federal requirements. Monitor and ensure reconciliation of the medication inventory and provide both follow up measures and follow up training regarding any medication errors. Assist the Director with data collection of outcomes as needed in addition to annual policy and procedure revisions. Ensure all incident reports are completed and submitted in a timely manner. Address any grievances pertaining to the Nursing Department, following up with client and staff as require in conjunction with the Director of Cedar Road and/or Medical Director. Assist in oversight of Infection Control practices. Collaborate with Medical Director, Director of Nursing, Nursing Staff, Direct Care Staff, Counselors, Clinical Directors, other Department Managers and Compliance Manager in Quality Assessment, Assurance, and Performance Improvement Activities. Remain current with required mandatory continuing education and training. Maintain continuing education necessary to maintain RN licensure and certifications, and to maintain compliance with facility licensure and accreditation requirements. Routinely collaborate with leadership and colleagues to promote a positive culture. Evaluate detoxification needs of alcohol/drug patients using the CIWA (Clinical Indicators Withdrawal from Alcohol) and COWS (Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale) evaluation tools and provide appropriate interventions based on the results. Provide and document patient education regarding diagnosis, medication and/or medical treatment as indicated. Complete comprehensive initial nurse assessment for participants being admitted and provide on-going nursing as needed. Patient assessments for adverse reactions to medication. Maintain correctly stocked medication inventory, ensure safety of medications/supplies, keep an accurate log of reports of medications, and communicate with pharmacy representatives as needed. Seek consultation from medical director, clinical coordinator, or other members of the management team for direction when not clear about documentation and or procedures. Communicate concise and appropriate information throughout assigned shift with team members. Assure that medication order forms and medication administration forms are properly completed according to clinical record standards. Respond and comply with all administrative/managerial e-mail communication within the requested time frame. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Required:

Must hold an unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maine Minimum 2 years full time experience working with psychiatric disorders and substance use disorders required. Must have a valid State of Maine Driver's License, insurable under the WPHW's automobile insurance plan and reliable transportation. Must have current BLS, AED and First Aid training, or complete training within first 60 days of hire. Experience working with clients being medically detoxed required. Experience in managing others in a leadership capacity strongly preferred Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, independently and embrace a culturally diverse setting. Experience working in Tribal Communities preferred. Skills and Qualifications Required:

Working knowledge of the signs and symptoms of substance intoxication and withdrawal including pharmacological factors. Must be able to physically respond to individuals' needs in the event of a crisis situation. Willingness to travel with some overnights for trainings, meetings, gatherings, and events. Ability to communicate ideas, instructions, and other information in a clear and precise manner using both written and oral forms of communication. Knowledge of the Code of Ethics for nurses. Knowledge of the federal drug and alcohol confidentiality law (42 C.F.R. Part 2) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. Knowledge of the American Society of Addiction Medicine placement criteria and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual as it relates to substance-related disorders or able to acquire the knowledge. Ability to work a varied schedule to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays as needed. Proficiency with computers and MS Office and Teams. Must be flexible with excellent attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple tasks. Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment and be a self-starter who works with integrity while also being a strong team player. Professional and courteous with positive attitude. Must pass criminal background check.
