We are seeking a Seasoned Technical Designer specializing in pattern making and garment construction for women's athletic wear. This is a full-time leave coverage position primarily supporting Women's Golf with additional support for Tennis. This is a hands-on technical role focused on translating design concepts into precise, production-ready patterns and specifications-not a creative design, graphic design, or marketing position.

What You'll Do

As a Technical Designer, you will be responsible for the research and development of products from conception to retail, ensuring each garment meets the functional needs of athletes and consumers. Your work will bridge the gap between creative vision and technical execution.

Key Responsibilities: Create technical patterns and detailed construction specifications from designer sketches and concept pictures Build patterns from scratch or adjust existing patterns to achieve optimal fit and functionality Collaborate with Marketing, Design, and Product Development teams to interpret design concepts into accurate 2-dimensional patterns Lead and participate in fit sessions, incorporating styling and fit modifications as needed Inspect and critique samples with a critical eye for construction quality and fit accuracy Develop and revise product specifications with comprehensive construction details for production Provide technical expertise on pattern-making, garment construction, and fit throughout the development process Ensure specifications detail construction methods that optimize profitability and manufacturability Potentially work directly with athletes to assess functional performance and fit Create technical documents and drawings used in the garment manufacturing process Required Qualifications

Must Have:

5+ years of experience as a Technical Designer specializing in pattern making and pattern adjustments Proven ability to create patterns from scratch and adjust existing patterns for women's athletic wear Strong knowledge of garment construction for knit fabrics (woven fabric knowledge also valuable) Portfolio demonstrating pattern-making expertise, complexity of work, and relevant experience Professional presence suitable for potential athlete-facing interactions and brand representation Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (7+ years with high school diploma, 6+ years with Associate's degree, 4+ years with Master's degree, or 3+ years with PhD/Law degree) Preferred Qualifications

Nice to Have:

Experience with performance/athletic wear construction Experience with outerwear, dresses, and skirts Proficiency with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), PDM, PCX, or web-based tools for tracking changes and maintaining records Experience working in a fast-paced, collaborative product development environment

Who You Are

You are a detail-oriented technical expert who understands the mechanics of how garments are constructed and fitted. You can look at a designer's sketch and envision the pattern pieces, measurements, and construction methods needed to bring it to life. You have the technical skills of a seasstress combined with the precision of an engineer, and you take pride in creating patterns that are both functional and manufacturable.

This role is ideal for someone who loves the technical precision of pattern making and garment construction, not someone looking for creative design, color selection, or marketing work.
