Responsibilities

  • Directs and coordinates activities of the engineering department to design, manufacture, and test components, products, and systems, either personally or through direct reports.
  • Manage a team of engineers, focusing them on the company’s most critical problems, and oversee their development and career progression.
  • Align people, processes, products, parts, and the physical plant to meet targets for safety, quality, output, and efficiency.
  • Direct department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
  • Resolve problems using new techniques, technologies, or concepts; analyze technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects.
  • Confer with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
  • Forecast operating costs of the department and manage budget requests.
  • Advise management of new developments that may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and inter-departmental relations.
  • Provide direction on interpretation and application of company policies and procedures to engineering activities; maintain knowledge of new technologies to improve operations and develop recommendations.
  • Maintain knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties are performed safely.
  • Represent the specialty on cross-functional teams (e.g., operations) and lead these teams as needed.
  • Plan and organize complex projects across multiple subject areas.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • +5 years of professional experience in an aerospace, manufacturing, and/or production environment
  • +3 years of experience leading a team
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon obtaining access

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Knowledge of aerospace forging, machining, and manufacturing processes
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and related computer skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple large projects and interact with all organization levels
  • Experience managing multiple complex projects and delivering under tight deadlines and resource constraints
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team through coaching, development, feedback, and performance management

Benefits/Salary

The position includes competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), a generous 401k matching program, paid holidays and vacation. The salary range for this position is $93K to $140K.
