Job Title: Phlebotomist IIJob Description
As a Phlebotomist II, you will play a critical role in supporting various lab duties, troubleshooting, training, and providing workflow recommendations. Your primary function will be to ensure proper specimen collection and processing while maintaining a high standard of patient care.
Responsibilities

Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.

Ensure decontamination and update patient information accurately.

Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods to patients.

Demonstrate proficiency using straight needles and butterfly needles.

Understand and execute all physicians' orders.

Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.

Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.

Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.

Place samples in the appropriate collection container or tube, label them accurately, and follow necessary protocols for transport.

Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

Attend annual department training sessions.

Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Essential Skills
-
Proficient in phlebotomy, blood draw, venipuncture, specimen collection, and specimen processing.

Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

2-4 years of experience in a related field.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Sussex County, Delaware.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
