The Department of Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) within the College of Education and Human Development at Georgia State University (GSU) invites applications for the position of Department Chair and Professor starting July 2026. The ideal candidate should have a strong academic record and experience in leadership and administration, with a focus on supporting student, faculty, and staff success. Responsibilities

Managing and allocating the department’s budget, faculty and staff recruitment and evaluation, and ensuring compliance with university policies; Ensuring programs maintain APA- and CACREP-accreditation; Supporting faculty in their scholarly and creative work, and supporting faculty and staff in their professional development; Managing the growth of the departmental external funding portfolio; Overseeing the quality of instruction, credit hour production, and class/teaching assignments; Fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students, ensuring their academic and professional development; Working effectively with faculty, staff, and other departments within the college and university. Requirements

A minimum of 10 years of experience in a tenure-track faculty position. Current rank of tenured associate or full professor. University/college service and leadership experience. Experience in managing budgets and financial resources. Doctoral degree in counseling psychology, counselor education, or school psychology from an accredited program. Preferred Qualifications

Current rank of tenured full professor and eligibility for tenure and full professor rank at GSU. Experience as a department chair, associate chair, or similar administrative position. Proven track record in scholarship as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and funding to support research.
