The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia School of Medicine seeks an MD or MD/PhD Physician-Scientist to join our growing Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology as faculty on the tenure track. The appointee will join an outstanding Pediatric Hematology/Oncology group of clinicians and scientists with expertise in hematologic malignancies, pediatric sarcomas and embryonal tumors, central nervous system malignancies, stem cell transplant, and immunotherapy. They will be welcomed into the highly collaborative environment of the University of Virginia. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, share our institutional values of professionalism, integrity, personal accountability, excellence, and respect for others while developing an independent scientific program aimed at serving the world through discovery. Ideal candidates will be wet or dry laboratory-based investigators with an exceptional record of research accomplishment, focusing on benign or malignant disorders of hematopoiesis, CNS cancers, non-CNS solid tumors of children, immune deficiency states, or disorders of hemostasis. Applicants with clinical and/or translational research interests are encouraged to apply. The candidate should demonstrate achievements or strong potential for developing an innovative research program capable of attracting sustained extramural funding. The appointed rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) will include a generous start-up package and protected time to establish their research program. Adjunct appointments relevant to the research focus are available to facilitate participation in graduate and MD/PhD training programs. The candidate will have access to shared resources across grounds to support their research.
