Per Diem Certified Phlebotomy Technician I

The mission of The Arthur Ashe Student Health and Wellness Center (The Ashe Center) is to support UCLA students in the successful attainment of their educational goals through the personalized delivery of accessible, high-quality health and wellness services, rendered with kindness and competence, by diligent, dedicated professionals. Our comprehensive services include Primary Care, Gynecology Services, Immunizations, Travel Medicine, Physical Therapy, Specialty Clinics, Radiology & Laboratory, and Acupuncture – all under one roof!

Under the general direction of the Radiology & Laboratory Services Manager, the Per Diem Certified Phlebotomy Technician I performs phlebotomy duties, and works cooperatively with all team members to provide laboratory services. Key responsibilities include performing phlebotomy in outpatient setting, handling specimens appropriately, and instructing patients on self-collection procedures. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing quality patient care.

Salary & Compensation

  • UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

Qualifications

  • 2 years Licensed phlebotomy experience in high volume outpatient or hospital setting (Required)
  • 5 years Licensed phlebotomy experience in high volume outpatient or hospital setting (Preferred)
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques, especially with difficult-to-stick patients. (Required)
  • Proven experience in phlebotomy within a hospital or clinic setting. (Required)
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory tests, and infection control procedures. (Required)
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and colleagues. (Required)
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. (Required)
  • Discretion and sensitivity in handling confidential patient information. (Required)
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks efficiently. (Preferred)
  • Accurate data entry and retrieval skills. (Preferred)
  • Ability to comprehend and apply complex technical information. (Preferred)
  • Ability to multi-task with accuracy. (Preferred)
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and workloads. (Preferred)
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently. (Preferred)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • California State CPT Certificate Upon Hire (Required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Upon Hire (Required)

Special Conditions for Employment

  • Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
  • Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
  • Age Requirement: Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired.
  • Pre-Placement Physical: Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory physical examination.
  • TB Test: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory TB test.
  • CANRA: The position is designated as a mandatory reporter under CANRA. The employee must sign the "Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse".

Schedule: 8 AM to 5 PM
