Travelers must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to signing the contract. Travelers will have a maximum of 2 attempts within 48 hours of offer. Failure results in being sent home and a 6-month do-not-use status in specified regions. Must float between all Telemetry and MedSurg units. Floating may include ICU, Cardiac Tele, and various holding areas. Notification of campus and unit will be given 1.5 hours prior to shift start. Mid-shift unit floating can occur. Floating to different campuses is rare but possible, and requires clocking out and in. Description: The role involves working primarily in a telemetry float pool. The nurse will float between multiple units, including Telemetry and MedSurg. There will be a requirement to take on patients in varying acuities based on skill level. The telemetry units will require the ability to interpret EKGs. Common patient diagnoses include those post-catheterization and vascular procedures, and post-surgical care. The charge nurse will have no patient assignment while supervising clinical staff. The nurse assistant-to-patient ratios will vary depending on the unit. Weekend shifts are required according to scheduling guidelines. The nurse will work 12-hour shifts, typically from 7 PM to 7 AM. Centralized telemetry monitoring will be in use. All nurses must possess current BLS and ACLS certifications to operate within the telemetry areas.
