Overview

Clean Harbors is seeking a Traveling Heavy Equipment Operator to join the National Remediation team. The Heavy Equipment Operator will operate a variety of equipment and may perform manual labor as required. This role requires extensive travel (approximately 95-100% travel across the continental United States) with a typical rotation of 6 weeks on a project followed by 1 week off.

Travel and Pay

  • Travel: 95-100% travel in all 48 contiguous states; all travel expenses covered.
  • Schedule: 6 weeks on project, then 1 week home, paid.
  • Pay: Base pay range $24.00/hr - $28.00/hr (DOE).
  • Per diem provided; single-occupancy hotel accommodations with kitchenette.
  • Prevailing wage and overtime available depending on job site.

Position Overview

  • Operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, screeners, and similar machinery. Minimum of 10 years of experience operating this type of equipment is preferred.
  • Work at a Clean Harbors facility or at a customer site.
  • Travel requirement: 95% travel in all 48 contiguous states; travel expenses are covered.

Responsibilities

  • Competent operation of heavy equipment including excavator (60K lb+), front-end loader (3CY+), articulating dump truck (25CY+), bulldozer (150HP+), motor grader, soil compactor, articulating water truck, compact loader, compact excavator, and other construction equipment.
  • Operate machinery such as backhoe, front-end loader, excavator, bulldozer, track-hoe, and compactor; operate a heavy-duty forklift as required.
  • Ensure safe operation in line with Standard Operating Procedures; complete and submit waste tracking paperwork as required.
  • Perform occasional labor tasks as needed; maintain health and safety as a priority.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience operating heavy equipment required; experience with bulldozers and excavators required.
  • Construction/Earthworks experience preferred.
  • Must be able to travel 95-100% (6 weeks on, 1 week home, paid).
  • Current valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Physical Requirements

  • Physically demanding; able to navigate varying site conditions, walk several miles per day, lift up to 50 pounds, and wear PPE as required.
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods, sit in vibrating equipment, climb at heights, and perform repetitive motions; good vision (corrected or uncorrected).
