Job Summary

The Solid Waste Commercial Driver for the Village of Los Lunas is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of commercial refuge trucks. This role includes completing daily refuse routes, performing post and pre-trip inspections, and documenting any issues. Additionally, drivers are required to assist in servicing the Recycling Center and complete the commercial recycling route.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily post and pre-trip inspections of the commercial refuge truck.
• Document and report any maintenance issues or concerns promptly.
• Assist in servicing the Recycling Center.
• Complete daily refuse routes efficiently while adhering to safety guidelines.
• Operate commercial trucks safely and in compliance with policies and procedures.
• Ensure proper loading and unloading of refuse materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment within the truck.
• Communicate with supervisors and dispatch regarding route changes or issues.
• Follow all traffic laws and regulations during operations.
• Report any accidents or incidents immediately.
• Provide excellent customer service to residents and commercial clients.
• Adhere to recycling and waste disposal regulations.
• Participate in ongoing safety training and follow safety protocols.
• Complete required paperwork and documentation accurately.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• One (1) year of direct experience with commercial loading of refuge trucks.
• Valid Class A New Mexico Driver’s License.
• Commitment to safety and the ability to follow safety protocols.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting and loading.
• Effective communication skills.
• Basic mechanical knowledge for truck maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and follow established routes.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and route adjustments.
