Overview
Cybersecurity Engineer location: US-VA-Hampton; onsite at Langley AFB. Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Cybersecurity Engineer to support the C3C / Kessel Run (KR) Division within the USAF C3BM Directorate. This role focuses on cybersecurity and serves as the Program Office's information security professional responsible for conducting information system security engineering activities and ensuring security is integrated into the AOC WS security architecture in accordance with government requirements. Provide cybersecurity technical guidance in principles including authentication, non-repudiation, least privilege, defense in depth, risk management, and network security to support the AOC WS ISSM.
This is a full-time position located at Langley AFB.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical point of contact and subject matter expert for ISSO-related matters.
- Complete security assessments on the AOC WS development suites, prepare the final security assessment reports, including technical recommendations for both STIGs and ACAS findings.
- Provide technical input, recommendations, and assistance with the implementation of cybersecurity approaches, methods, and solutions that maintain compliance with laws, regulations, and other DoD and AF guidance.
- Assess proposed changes to information systems, their environment of operation, and mission needs that could affect system authorization.
- Provide security architecture, design, development, and configuration inputs to the AOC WS ISSM; assist in designing and developing organizational information systems and upgrading legacy systems.
- Apply best practices for implementing security requirements for information systems, including software engineering, system/security engineering, secure design, secure architecture, and secure coding techniques.
- Ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems assets and compliance with company policies, procedures, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with architecture, design, and management of network security technologies; participate in network and system design to implement appropriate security policies for the AOC WS; maintain updates to baseline implementation plans and related documentation.
- Support LAN/WAN security solutions, including creating and maintaining security standards and design documentation.
- Develop and assist with new LAN/WAN security applications and hardware as assigned.
- Lead comprehensive network security assessments and risk analyses, proposing enhancements to the security infrastructure for AOC WS.
- Stay ahead of cybersecurity developments, recommend advanced security solutions, and manage integration into existing AOC WS development suites.
- Develop and implement network security policies aligned with legal and organizational standards; conduct regular system audits to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
- Participate in network and systems design to ensure implementation of appropriate security policies for AOC WS development suites.
- Apply advanced consulting skills and extensive technical expertise in cybersecurity engineering, cyber forensics, network security tools, policies, and procedures to design and implement a secure enclave environment and best practices.
- Investigate, monitor, and troubleshoot firewall-related issues, including performance, connectivity, and security logs; conduct routine PAN OS checks for monitoring and analysis.
- Maintain detailed documentation of firewall configurations, changes, and network diagrams.
- Review IAVA/B related to Palo Alto products and develop and implement remediation plans.
Qualifications
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain a Top Secret level clearance
Education: BS/BA Degree
Years of Experience: 7-10 years in the respective technical/professional discipline, 5 of which must be in the DoD
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies
- Risk Management Framework (RMF), with emphasis on taking projects from Step 1 to Step 5
- Vulnerability Management, Tenable Nessus (ACAS-DoD version)
- STIGs, capable of applying system security engineering to client/server environments and vulnerability management
