Delivery Driver position responsible for the safe, efficient, timely, and courteous delivery of energy products including fuel oil, diesel fuel, off-road diesel, gasoline, and propane. When business is slower, drivers assist with meter reading, tank setting, fleet reconditioning, and maintenance of company properties.
Responsibilities
- Efficiently delivers distillates and propane as directed by the distribution office team, observing all applicable safety practices and company regulations.
- Performs return-to-service duties including leak checks, relighting of appliances (propane), and prime/starts (oil).
- Maintain a daily respectful, timely dialogue with office staff and Distribution/Operations Manager.
- Inspect and maintain delivery trucks, including:
- Thorough pre-trip inspections as required by state and Federal agencies (DOT, FMCSA), documented in the fleet management software.
- Complete paperwork (inspection stickers/reports, registrations, hazmat permits, insurance cards, shipping papers).
- Regular interior and exterior cleaning.
- Monthly meter creep testing (propane).
- Daily emergency shutoff testing (propane).
- Maintain and submit accurate reports and customer payments.
- Participate in safety and operations meetings, proposing ideas to improve delivery processes.
- Execute the safety strategy defined by company management.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment when applicable.
- Provide customer service support for delivery matters, in person or with other team members as needed.
- Keep the office team and Distribution/Operations Manager informed of delivery or customer situations.
- Assist in off-season tasks such as fleet reconditioning, meter reading, tank setting, and property landscaping/maintenance.
- Execute other tasks assigned by the Distribution/Operations Manager.
Qualifications
- Three or more years of petroleum or propane delivery experience preferred.
- Commercial Driver’s License, Class A or B, with hazmat, tanker, and air brake endorsements.
- Valid DOT medical certificate.
- Ability to drive a standard-shift transmission.
- Ability to pass company-provided drug, alcohol, and physical tests.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, overtime, and on-call shifts.
- Experience with regulatory agency requirements (DOT, HazMat, OSHA, FMCSA).
- Licensing and certifications as applicable (e.g., CETP delivery modules for propane).
- Proficient in using Android tablets and web-based software applications.
Compensation and Benefits
Base pay range: $28.00/hr – $35.00/hr. Hourly, non-exempt position with electronic timekeeping.
