Security Patrol

Primary Purpose: Under immediate supervision, patrols and protects offices, shops, warehouses, materials and equipment in assigned areas.

Essential Functions/Duties:

  • Patrols buildings and grounds around offices, shops, and warehouses to prevent and detect signs of intrusion.
  • Ensures security of doors, windows and gates.
  • Answers alarms and investigates disturbances.
  • Patrols agricultural fields to prevent and detect signs of entry, equipment vandalism and theft.
  • Ensures field gates are secured.
  • Prohibits unauthorized vehicles or persons from entering company property.
  • Maintains look out for fires, pipe leaks, etc. and reports findings to appropriate individuals.
  • Calls police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or the presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or other unusual circumstances.
  • Drives light vehicle when patrolling.
  • Checks tires, oil, water and gas supply and services vehicle as necessary.
  • Keeps vehicle in clean condition.
  • Reports vehicle malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Performs work with due regard for the safety of self and fellow employees by following Dole safety techniques.
  • Exercises proper care and protection of company property.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Other Functions: May be called upon to escort company vehicles on public roadways.

Working Conditions: Outdoor working conditions. Equipment: Pick-up truck or other light vehicle. Cellular phone. ProxiPen for tour verification system. Flashlight.

Working Hours: Security schedule: Monday thru Friday - 3:00 pm - 7:00 am; Saturday thru Sunday - 7:00 am - 7:00 am. Security schedule requires weekend and holiday work.

Mental Demands: Must be able to understand, speak, read and write English. Ability to complete security log required. Must be able to communicate with Dole supervisors and employees, emergency personnel, and the public.

Physical Demands: Considerable walking required. Some bending and reaching when securing property gates.

Qualification Requirements: Education/Training: Valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract. Must have completed 8 hours guard training course and possess a State of Hawaii Guard Registration Certificate. Experience: Three to six months of previous work experience. Skill/Knowledge: Ability to determine course of action during emergency situations.
