Job Purpose and Summary: Within our Retail locations, we bring our promise to life with heart every day. Our Staff Pharmacists play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence in their pharmacy by acting as a role model, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. The Staff Pharmacist’s responsibilities include supporting the Pharmacy Manager in leading and directing the pharmacy team and being accountable for the management, oversight, and operation of all aspects within the pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Living our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
• Take direction from the Pharmacy Manager and oversee the pharmacy as their proxy during bench shifts, coaching and following up with pharmacy team members, and providing feedback as needed.
• Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist-on-duty.
• Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails at every workstation.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care; collaborate with the patient’s healthcare team and resolve insurance and/or medication issues.
• Proactively offer and deliver immunizations and support Pharmacists in immunization training of Technicians.
• Support effective management of pharmacy inventory with focus on protecting cold chain products.
• Partner with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations; escalate issues as needed.
• Maintain scheduling flexibility to meet business needs and contribute to a safe, inclusive team dynamic.
• Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, including trainings and CMEs, to support patients.
• Support access to care and patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care where permissible (e.g., testing and prescribing services).
• Understand and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and CVS Health policies; protect patient privacy and maintain a safe workplace.

Required Qualifications

• Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
• Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
• Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list

Essential Functions

• Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
• Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
• Attention and Focus: concentrate on tasks, pivot as needed, and ensure prescription labeling accuracy

• Mathematical Reasoning: compute days supply, quantities, and labeling
• Issue Resolution: resolve challenging patient or colleague interactions
• Physical Demands: remain mobile, lift/carry, reach, fine motor tasks, and perform duties requiring visual acuity
• Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
• Ability to work in other locations across the market as business needs require

Pay Range

The Typical Pay Range For This Role Is $60.00 - $74.00 per hour.

This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
