Job Overview
General Sand & Gravel is seeking a reliable and skilled CDL Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting materials such as sand, gravel, and other aggregates to various job sites while ensuring safety and compliance with all regulations.
Responsibilities
- Operate commercial vehicles to transport sand, gravel, and other aggregates to and from job sites.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with company standards.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of driving hours, routes, and deliveries.
- Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and site personnel regarding delivery schedules and any issues that arise.
- Load and unload materials as necessary, ensuring safe handling and storage.
- Provide excellent customer service while interacting with clients and job site personnel.
- Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the truck and equipment.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) with a clean driving record.
- Experience driving heavy trucks, preferably with aggregates or construction materials.
- Knowledge of state and federal transportation regulations.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to company policies.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials, when necessary.
- Familiarity with GPS and other routing software is a plus.
- Class A or B CDL
- Minimum 2 years experience operating tri-axle dump trucks delivering and dumping aggregate materials
- Able to operate automatic and manual transmission dump trucks
- Able to operate dump trucks off-road
- Able to pass pre-employment drug & background screening

Work Environment
The role involves exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. Employees may encounter extreme weather conditions, including high heat, humidity, cold, ice, snow, and rain. The noise level in the work environment can be loud, with frequent exposure to dust and asphalt, and working near moving mechanical parts.
Physical Demands
This position requires the ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods, and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse conditions. Candidates must have good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination, with the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The role requires excellent stamina and the ability to work on uneven, steep, slippery, wet, muddy, and inconsistent ground.
