Wintersteiger is an Austrian-based machine manufacturer with its North American Headquarters in Salt Lake City. We are best known for producing ski and snowboard tuning machines but also produce machines for the agricultural, wood working, and metals working industries.

We are seeking an experienced account specialist or a highly skilled candidate to work out of our head office in Salt Lake City. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

What the Accountant will do:

• Prepare and maintain financial records, reports, and general ledgers
• Perform account reconciliations and participate in month-end and year-end close processes
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Support internal and external audits and ensure accurate documentation for tax filings
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes and initiatives
• Oversee inventory accounting, including tracking stock movements, analyzing inventory data to support MRP, and managing inventory levels and adjustments
• Manage multi-jurisdictional sales tax compliance, including preparation, filing, and reconciliation of returns; support other tax filings such as property and use tax
• Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost savings
• Participate in the implementation and optimization of accounting systems and tools
• Collaborate with vendors to address tax-related matters and ensure compliance
• Provide hands-on support to accounting staff with daily functions and administrative tasks
• Generate and maintain pricing reports and update pricing data in the ERP system

What you will need:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
• 7 or more years of professional accounting experience
• Proven hands-on experience managing A/P and A/R
• High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, etc)
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards
• Willingness to jump into other tasks outside of the current job scope where needed
• Demonstrated leadership in managing projects and guiding cross-functional initiatives
• Experience with journal entry preparation and high-volume data entry
• Working knowledge with financial automation tools such as xSuite, YayPay, and Avalara is highly preferred
• SAP experience is not required but is helpful
