Responsibilities

The Human Resource Manager is the strategic “people” partner in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing facility. Responsibilities include all HR functional areas within the facility, including Talent Acquisition, Employee/Labor Relations, Training & Development, Compensation, Payroll, Benefits, Communications, Change Management, Workforce Planning and Employee Engagement. The HR Manager reports directly to the Human Resources Director.

  • Lead Talent Acquisition at the plant level, including the plant hiring process for hourly and salaried positions, onboarding and orientation of new hires, and executing talent acquisition strategies for the plant's short- and long-term success.
  • Lead Talent Management at the plant level through development and implementation of leadership assimilation, coaching and mentoring for new plant leadership talent, execution of learning and development programs, plant succession planning, and day-to-day performance guidance to line management.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to direct reports to support growth and career advancement within Novolex.
  • Build a high-performing, values-led culture by developing programs that improve employee engagement and by applying change management expertise to foster a diverse and inclusive plant environment.
  • Administer HR programs, processes and solutions at the plant level, including:
    • Ensure full compliance with laws, regulations and company policies;
    • Analyze HR data trends to identify opportunities to improve manufacturing productivity, product quality, safety and/or retention;
    • Collaborate with plant management to develop and implement people programs that support productivity, quality, safety and retention;
    • Serve as the main contact between HR and local union representatives, maintain positive relationships with union leadership and keep records related to union matters;
    • Partner with Centers of Excellence to facilitate information exchange and problem solving;
    • Complete investigations in a timely fashion;
    • Ensure payroll accuracy and compliance with company policies.

Qualifications

Education: BS/BA degree with a concentration in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or Communications is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a Human Resources role within a manufacturing or industrial environment; prior Labor Relations experience preferred.

Travel: Occasional; less than 25% of the time.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to diagnose HR data trends and link them to plant performance;
  • Prior Labor Relations experience;
  • Strong change management and project management skills;
  • Experience driving culture and engagement initiatives;
  • Talent management experience including identifying gaps and developing countermeasures;
  • HR process best practices and continuous improvement experience;
  • Effective communication and relationship-building across all plant levels;
  • Proven cross-functional collaboration with coaching and performance management;
  • High-energy, multi-tasking, results-oriented leadership with strong business acumen;
  • Strategic mindset with willingness to engage in tactical HR activities as needed;
  • Leadership agility to pivot between compliance, advocacy, counseling, influencing and directing;
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous and fast-paced environments.
