About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights EOW or up to 3 weekends per month if the unit is busy Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 3 years recent ICU experience required, including either neuro or cardiovascular experience License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: Full **3 years of recent ICU experience to be considered** (no exceptions). Experience must include either neuro or cardiovascular. Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance in the position with a maximum of 2 attempts. There is a pass/fail simulation lab assessment on Day 1. Description: This position is for an ICU setting specializing in trauma and neuro surgery. The unit has a total of 32 beds. The nurse to patient ratios are 1:2 or 1:1. RNs are required to titrate drips including Propofol, fentanyl, versed, precedex, morphine, dilaudid, ketamine, rocuronium, levophed, vasopressin, cardene, labetalol, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, and insulin. Charge nurses do not take patients. There are no nurse aides on this unit, only sitters and health unit secretaries as needed. Hospitalists and intensivists are available in-house 24/7. Respiratory therapy is also available in the ICU 24/7. RNs are required to interpret their own telemetry strips using GE monitors. Self-scheduling is available, though the manager may need to balance shifts based on unit needs. Weekend requirements include three weekend shifts within a four-week schedule. Night shift weekend shifts are Friday and Saturday. Dayshift weekend shifts are Saturday and Sunday. Holidays may allow for one holiday off during the assignment. There are no additional call or standby shifts required, though low census may occur up to three times per contract as needed. RNs may float to telemetry with a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio as necessary. The scrub color and dress code is navy. There is 1-2 days of unit/department specific orientation and validation of skills for trauma, neuro, and specialty devices as needed. The expectation is to float between multiple ICU settings as required.
