About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP; prefer intermediate or advanced FHM Must-Have: Must have LDRP experience. Must be comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sections. Must be comfortable assisting with catching a baby and transitioning a baby. Must have 2 years of experience; will consider candidates with 1 year of experience if they have multiple prior travel experiences. Description: This unit consists of a Birthing Center with 34 total beds. There are 2 OR suites available for C-sections and 2 Triage beds. The unit also has 14 Postpartum beds. On average, there are 150-180 births per month, totaling 2,133 deliveries in the previous year. The nurse-to-patient ratio follows guidelines of 1:2 in Labor and Delivery and 1:3-4 in couplets. RNs are required to titrate drips, including Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin. There is a surgical tech available 24/7, as well as a patient care assistant with clerical duties on each shift. An OB hospitalist is in-house 24/7 to assist with triaging patients and managing emergent cases. A Neonatal Nurse Practitioner is also available in the nursery around the clock. There is an anesthesia provider in-house 24/7. The unit is equipped with respiratory therapy equipment, including vents, CPAP, and BiPap. Tele/monitor techs are available for the PACU after C-section, and RNs are expected to read their own strips. Block scheduling is allowed upon request, and weekend requirements include working every other weekend. Holiday requirements include rotation with permanent staff. There is a standby response time of 45 minutes when placed on standby. Floating requirements include functioning in Mother Baby and Postpartum; no floating to NICU. Travelers need to be able to transition babies and attend low-risk deliveries. Scrubs are provided, and a locker is available for use. The manager provides feedback and encourages staff to adapt to workflows, policies, procedures, and feedback. The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment.
