Job Title: Heavy Assembler

Job Description

The Heavy Assembler is responsible for assembling mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components onto snow and ice control equipment such as salt spreaders and dump bodies. This role requires reading blueprints, using hand and power tools, and ensuring products meet quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Assemble large mechanical components including engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical wiring.

Use hand tools, power tools, and torque equipment to fasten parts securely.

Fit, trim, align, and adjust parts to meet specifications.

Read and follow assembly instructions, blueprints, and parts lists.

Identify and gather required parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.

Inspect assembled components for accuracy and functionality.

Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Report any defects or issues to supervisors.

Work closely with welders, painters, and other production staff.

Communicate effectively to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion.

Essential Skills

Experience in heavy equipment or mechanical assembly.

Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools.

Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods.

Proficiency in using hand and power tools.

Understanding of the manufacturing process.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in industrial manufacturing settings.

Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.

Capability to follow work orders and production schedules.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a large, open production facility located in Lindenwood, IL, set in an industrial manufacturing setting. The site is clean, well-lit, and equipped with heavy machinery, welding equipment, hydraulic systems, and overhead cranes. Most work is conducted on the 1st shift from 5 am to 1:30 pm, with frequent overtime. Employees are expected to lift heavy components, bend, kneel, and stand for long periods. The facility may experience varying temperatures and high noise levels, requiring the use of PPE such as steel-toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lindenwood, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
