The Used Truck Wholesale Manager is responsible for the overall acquisition of used truck inventory for retail along with selling wholesale inventory. In addition, this position will assist in appraisals for trade in vehicles as needed. This position is responsible for locating quality used equipment for resale. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development. Essential Functions: Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLTs Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission Appraise, price, and test drive (as-needed) trucks, trades, or resale opportunities along with Used Truck Sales Manager Acquire used truck inventory through various markets to include auctions and customers Notifies the Used Truck Sales Manager of anticipated delivery of purchases Develops and maintains outside sources (wholesalers and retailers) for both buying and selling trucks Responsible for selling all trucks purchased for wholesale Manages wholesaling of aged inventory and unwanted trades Negotiates equipment pricing with customers when purchasing used equipment for inventory Reviews and authorizes purchases; determines appropriate method of purchase (i.e. informal bids, formal bids, negotiated contracts or other procedures) Collaborate with Used Truck Sales Manager to manage and assess used truck inventory throughout Holt Truck dealership locations Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Exceptional customer service and relationship building skills; customer retention Strong technical aptitude and understanding of used commercial truck products and equipment Ability to diagnose basic truck repairs Effective influencing skills which includes motivating and developing new and existing customers Demonstrated knowledge of sales and negotiating techniques Excellent auction and bidding experience Excellent oral and written communication skill to include formal presentation skills before small and large groups Knowledge of Microsoft Office products; Excel, Outlook, Word, etc. Knowledge of business accounting principles, budget preparation, and strong business acumen Exceptional organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills Ability to work with all levels of personnel within the organization Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelors degree in related field preferred Minimum of 5 years job-related experience required, 10 years experience preferred Minimum of 5 years of experience required with buying from an equipment auction house, 10 years experience preferred Class B CDL License required, Class A CDL License preferred Supervisory Responsibilities: None Travel: Up to 50%, 25% overnight stay is to be expected Physical Requirements: This position involves extended periods in a stationary position; additionally, occasional movement inside the office to access office machinery, file cabinets, etc. This role frequently communicates with others, must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue Occasionally moves materials or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climb up and down ladder Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work Safety training required; PPE required outside of office/parking lot area Occasionally works outdoors and may be exposed to extreme weather conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity Noise level may be loud at times Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipment On occasion time spent in confined spaces and high places Frequently works at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions Disclaimer: Please note that the above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
