Overview

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) role serves as the primary field-based scientific expert for Jazz products in the Sleep Medicine/Neuroscience therapeutic area. The MSL will establish and maintain scientific and clinical relationships with medical professionals, researchers, and other members of the scientific community. The MSL team collaborates with leadership to integrate scientific expertise in all interactions and ensure compliant, successful scientific communication and education in disease states of interest to Jazz Pharmaceuticals.
Responsibilities
Provide field-based scientific exchange and communication of FDA-approved and pipeline products
Support the Medical Science Liaison team’s objectives for FDA-approved products
Identify, establish, and maintain scientific relationships with opinion leaders regarding disease-state and product-specific information
Facilitate scientific development of pipeline compounds at research centers and secure the company’s presence in designated therapeutic areas
Support the clinical operations organization in Jazz Pharmaceuticals-sponsored research as needed
Serve as primary liaison with investigators interested in developing and performing investigator-initiated research
Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Clinical Development groups to align activities
Document and forward reports of adverse events according to Jazz’s policy to ensure safe and effective use of Jazz products
Attend and provide scientific support at regional and national congress meetings
Develop and prioritize solutions to problems, understand customer needs, and demonstrate leadership in cross-functional projects
Proactively coach and mentor other team members
Manage at least two large cross-functional projects while maintaining geographic responsibilities
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Ability to effectively communicate scientific data to internal and external customers, including opinion leaders and managed care organizations
Knowledge of geography and key opinion leaders preferred
Thorough understanding of applicable federal and state regulatory requirements for field-based scientific personnel
Ability to develop trust and relationships with opinion leaders in disease states of interest
Collaborative, team-based approach; ability to network with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to work evenings and weekends
Willingness to travel 60% of work days
Required/Preferred Education And Licenses
An advanced doctorate degree (PharmD, MD, DO, PhD or equivalent)
A minimum of 0-2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or clinical/research experience (MSL experience preferred)
Preference for Sleep Medicine experience; Neurology, Psychiatry, or other relevant backgrounds will be considered

Total compensation may include discretionary bonuses and equity, as well as benefits such as medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off.
