Defibtech is seeking an EMS Business Director to lead our newly created Emergency Medical Services Strategic Business Unit, drive sales growth, and be responsible for building a strong market presence.
The EMS Business Director will oversee global commercial strategy, distributor management, and customer engagement while coordinating closely with internal teams to deliver operational and clinical excellence. This role is hybrid capable, locally commutable to our Guilford, CT headquarters with travel up to 50%.
Core Responsibilities:
Leads and manages the newly established EMS Strategic Business Unit.
Establishes training, education, and clinical support team, tailored to EMS customers.
Develops and executes the commercial strategy to achieve and exceed sales targets.
Builds and manages relationships with EMS distributors, customers, and clinical partners.
Oversees sales operations, marketing initiatives, and customer engagement programs.
Drives distributor performance through effective management, coaching, and accountability.
Collaborates with internal teams (marketing, operations, regulatory, and service) to ensure execution.
Monitors market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs to shape SBU strategy.
Reports regularly on performance against goals, providing insights and recommendations to leadership.
Ensures all business activities comply with regulatory and quality requirements.
Demonstrates Defibtech’s values on the job. Promotes and participates in continuous improvement.
Actively supports compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including but not limited to FDA, Quality Systems Regulations, safety regulations, and applicable statutes).
Responsible for leading the EMS Strategic Business Unit team and clinical specialists.
Provides coaching, performance management, and professional development for team members.
Sets clear objectives, tracks progress and ensures accountability against business goals.
Fosters a collaborative, high-performance culture aligned with company values.
Coordinates cross-functional efforts with marketing, operations, and customer support teams
Qualifications / Requirements:
A minimum of 7 years of related experience that includes progressive leadership experience in EMS, medical devices, or related healthcare fields is required. Preferred candidates will have 10 years of related experience
Demonstrated experience with driving sales growth and managing distributor networks.
Strong understanding of commercial strategy, customer engagement, and market development.
Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in healthcare/medical device industries.
Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Within commuting distance of Guilford, Connecticut site with the ability to work onsite 3 or more days per week.
Up to approximately 50% travel, both Domestic and International.
Frequent sedentary work that primarily involves sitting and occasional standing/walking with occasional light work that includes moving objects up to 25lbs.
