Position Summary The “Head of Data Strategy & Products – TA Focus” leads development of Data Strategy and the strategy, design, and delivery of user-centric, reusable data products that enable delivery of Data Science and AI solutions for TA Discovery and drug development. This leader will manage three specialized sub-teams: Data Strategy & Products for Oncology TA, Immunology TA, and Neuroscience TA. The role includes unifying data across domains, scaling semantic/knowledge and embedding services, and institutionalizing data governance. It also focuses on productizing high-value data assets across TAs and collaborating with centralized Data Product Architecture & Governance, Knowledge Management functions. An ontology will be developed as the semantic backbone of TA data, aligned with the broader integration of the R&D data landscape, enabling data product standardization, reuse, and interoperability.
The role works closely with centralized Data Product Architecture & Governance, Knowledge Management, and Master Data Management. Critical collaborations include:
Collaborates with the broader Data Science and Digital Health team
Ensures alignment with master data management on shared entities and controlled vocabularies
The Head of Data Strategy & Products – TA focuses on driving awareness, engagement, and adoption of data products across TA Discovery, clinical development, operations, and adjacent functions. By fostering a culture of
data literacy, trust, and self-service , the role ensures data assets are built, embraced, and sustained as enterprise capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Data Strategy:
Develop data strategy as an ongoing program of improvement, partnering with Data Science TA teams to align with TA business needs and priorities.
Data Product Strategy & Execution:
Define and maintain a roadmap for data products supporting TAs; embed product thinking, agile delivery, and FAIR data principles across the product lifecycle.
Ontology & Semantic Modeling:
Lead development and governance of a TA Ontology to enable semantic consistency across TA domains; align ontology with internal metadata standards.
Collaboration with Knowledge Management:
Contribute to shared governance of vocabularies, taxonomies, and semantic layers for knowledge reasoning and graph-based automation.
Team & Operating Model Leadership:
Build and lead a cross-functional team; establish agile delivery processes, value-tracking metrics, and product lifecycle governance.
Value Realization & Communication:
Define and track KPIs; communicate product vision, roadmaps, and value realization to stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education & Experience: PhD or Masters in life sciences, informatics, natural sciences, data science, or related field.
10+ years in data platform/data engineering/governance leadership, with pharma/biotech R&D or regulated domain experience.
Strong business acumen in pharmaceutical and/or Data Science, drug discovery, and data product development.
Experience with high-throughput screening data, omics, chemical and biological data at scale.
Prior leadership of multi-disciplinary teams and vendor/partner ecosystems; track record delivering data solutions.
Experience in data product design, semantic modeling, ontologies, metadata governance, and industry standards.
Experience with pre-clinical, clinical, and real-world data.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills; ability to influence across a global organization.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and build networks across the business to sponsor initiatives.
Analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to assess data-related risks.
