Position Overview
We are seeking an accomplished Vice President of Construction to provide executive leadership over our commercial construction projects. This individual will oversee project management teams, direct field operations, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
This is a strategic and client-facing role, requiring a leader who can balance operational excellence with business development. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in commercial construction, outstanding communication skills, and a proven ability to build strong relationships with large general contractors and project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership:
Direct and manage a portfolio of large-scale commercial projects ranging from $500,000 to $10M, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget targets are consistently met. Team Management:
Guide and mentor project managers, superintendents, and field leaders to foster a high-performing, collaborative culture. Client Relations:
Act as the primary contact for clients, overseeing negotiations, contracts, budgets, change orders, and schedule adjustments to maintain client confidence. Strategic Partnerships:
Build and strengthen relationships with general contractors and industry partners, positioning the company as a trusted collaborator. Business Development:
Identify opportunities for growth, cultivate repeat business, and expand relationships with general contractors managing large project portfolios. Operational Oversight:
Implement and refine best practices to increase efficiency, enhance project delivery, and uphold compliance with safety standards. Reporting & Communication:
Deliver professional, transparent updates to executive leadership and clients on project progress, risks, and solutions. Estimating Support (Preferred):
Contribute to project estimating and proposal development when required, ensuring competitive and accurate bids. Qualifications Minimum 10 years of experience as a Project Manager or higher in commercial construction. Demonstrated success overseeing multiple large projects simultaneously ($500K–$10M range). Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present to executives and negotiate with clients. Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with general contractors. Ability to perform in high-pressure environments while maintaining client satisfaction. Preferred Skills & Experience Experience in project estimating and bid preparation. Licensed trade professional (electrical or related field) a plus. Familiarity with construction-specific regulations, safety practices, and project management tools (ComputerEase experience ideal). Business development background with evidence of expanding client relationships and securing repeat work.
