This Opportunity WSP USA, an award winning and innovative multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm, seeks an Intermediate Professional - Commissioning for our Boston, MA office. WSP USA works closely with architects and owners from around the world on large, complex projects with a focus on sustainability and energy performance of the built environment. Our engineers work on high quality, high-profile, national and international projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution of building commissioning processes (new/re/retro/continuous), energy auditing and building retrofit applications, support for sustainability certification applications, and measurement and verification techniques. WSP USA offers excellent growth opportunities: Many of our senior leaders started out as young engineers in our firm. Initially, you will work under the supervision, training, and guidance of the senior commissioning lead for the Austin office. Preliminary participation in business development activities will also be encouraged. Your Impact Support execution of standard building commissioning processes for new and existing construction as found in ASHRAE Guidelines. Perform engineering design reviews for commissioning related activities Performance of ASHRAE Level 1, 2, and 3 Energy Audits. Support for obtaining building sustainability certifications such as LEED, Energy Star, etc. Scopes of work to include a variety of building components including mechanical, plumbing, electrical distribution, lighting and specialty systems including fire alarm, security, and other enhanced building technology/control systems including nurse call, renewable energy systems, etc. Proficient communication and organization skills are necessary to conduct meetings, coordinate schedules, and prepare reports General Qualities: Possess a desire to develop knowledge, skills, and abilities in the trade, and advance in a career in the commissioning industry. Ability to travel part of time. Prioritize effectively, have good follow-through, and practice self-implemented quality control measures. Desire to attain Cx, controls and/or TAB certifications. Who You Are Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or relevant years of related field experience in the industry. 1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience in a building or systems commissioning discipline. Familiarity with building commissioning principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues. Familiarity with building planning, design, and installation management; including renovation and new design. Familiarity with smart building design. Familiar with relevant building technology/system installation and/or construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions. Interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience. Attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. Ability to work independently with supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives. Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools. Familiarly with discipline-specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD, Revit). Ability to uphold workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. Preferred Qualifications: Interest in obtaining LEED certification desired. A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations. Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $81,200 - $105,000 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
