is seeking a creative, motivated, and highly talented

Geospatial Data Scientist III

with a focus on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for employment in our Baltimore, Maryland office. The ideal candidate will have experience in data science and GIS, demonstrating strong technical expertise and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will have experience in a role that involves supporting engineering, modeling, and inspection teams by automating ETL processes using Python, R, and SQL programming languages. This position is part of AECOM’s Water practice and supports projects involving site investigation, design, construction, and site restoration. The selected individual will work closely with the design team to prepare plans, calculations, and documents including specifications, sketches, diagrams, and schematic drawings. The job responsibilities of this position will include but are not limited to:

Drive the adoption of new tools and processes with minimal oversight. Design and maintain robust data pipeline architecture; assemble large, complex data sets to meet business requirements. Identify, design, and implement process improvements, such as automating manual workflows, optimizing data delivery, and redesigning infrastructure for greater scalability. Maintain infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from diverse sources using R, Python, SQL and Azure ‘Big Data’ technologies for GIS consumption. Build analytics tools to provide actionable insights, improve operational efficiency, and track key business performance metrics. Develop custom tools and widgets for ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise. Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve data-related technical issues and support evolving data infrastructure needs. Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

BA/BS in Data Science, GIS, Mathematics or related field + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education Experience in Data Science, GIS, Data Engineering, or Cloud Programming Valid US Driver’s License, and as a condition of employment, pass AECOM's motor vehicle records review As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a drug screening Due to the nature of this work, United States citizenship is a requirement PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in Data Science, GIS, Mathematics or related field 5+ years of experience with advanced scripting and programming experience in R, Python and SQL, along with database management and development experience. Strong understanding of the ESRI suite, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, Hubs, Dashboards, Experience Builder, and ArcGIS for Power BI. Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Query. Experience with API frameworks such as ArcPy, ArcGIS API for Python, R-ArcGIS, CityWorks API, Flask, and Django. Experience in ETL processes and automation. Proficiency with scripting and programming in Python and R. Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate, Google Professional Data Engineer, AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty, IBM Data Science Professional Certificate, or GIS Professional (GISP). Additional Information

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $85,000 to $105,000.
