Penn State University Penn State Abington is searching for a part-time Summer Youth Program Director in the Continuing Education Department. The Director would be responsible for the planning and onsite administration of the summer youth programs. Planning would commence in

October 2026 , and programs would run in

late-June to early-August . Planning responsibilities can mostly be performed remotely with flexible working hours. On-site administration would take place

7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ,

Monday-Thursday , from

late-June to early-August . Job Duties Planning: Selection of camp topics aligning with academic majors/minors and college readiness as much as possible. Identification of potential new topics. Coordination of curriculum development for new topics, working with faculty and students, working within budget. Scheduling of camp sessions. Hiring of instructors, lead counselors, and counselors. Scheduling of camp staff. Coordination of room reservations, registration intake forms, and supply orders. Ensure youth compliance for camps according to Penn State policies. Train camp staff including general orientation as well as classroom management/inclusive classroom practices skills. Communicate with parents during registration process. Meet with and maintain relationships with key campus partners (police department, catering, IT, etc.). Support marketing efforts. Onsite Administration: Day-to-day administration of camps. Ensure youth compliance procedures including staff ratios. Oversee pick-up and drop-off of campers. Manage communication with parents. Manage camp staff Ensure communication with all staff Manage disciplinary issues that may arise with campers. Manage communication with key campus partners. Oversee camper special circumstances such as medical, behavioral, etc. Additional Support: Responsible for managing and answering Penn State Abington email for camp related concerns and inquiries. Oversee and manage other youth programs as needed after the camp session has ended. Attend events as needed, at least once a month, to promote and network our Summer Camps and professional development programs. Search for and write grant proposals that can benefit our camps and help reduce camp costs. Complete small changes on the summer camp website. Requirements And Qualifications Training and experience in working with children, teens, and young adults. Experience with curriculum development and classroom management. Strong communication, organizational, detail-oriented and computer skills. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on tasks. Experience with grant writing. BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
