Position Summary
The Executive Director (ED) is the face and leader of KIFB, responsible for advancing the organization’s mission, values, and strategic priorities. This individual must embody warmth, empathy, and integrity — someone who not only leads with vision but also connects genuinely with people, inspiring trust and collaboration. The ED will oversee staff and operations, manage financial health, foster partnerships, and serve as a respected community leader representing KIFB across Kaua‘i and beyond.
Leadership & Community Engagement
Serve as the primary ambassador of KIFB, maintaining the trust of the community, partners, donors, and those we serve.
Build strong, collaborative relationships with the Board, staff, volunteers, elected officials, government agencies, and other nonprofits.
Represent KIFB at community events, nonprofit gatherings, and public meetings.
Demonstrate a leadership style that is humble, collaborative, and people focused.
Organizational Management
Provide hands-on, servant leadership to staff, fostering a supportive, respectful, and mission-driven work environment.
Ensure programs align with the mission and respond effectively to community needs, especially during times of crisis.
Work alongside employees, modeling teamwork, adaptability, and service.
Financial & Strategic Oversight
Oversee financial management, including budgets, financial statements, cash flow forecasting, and risk management.
Clearly communicate financial information to the Board, staff, donors, and community stakeholders.
Lead strategic planning efforts, ensuring sustainable growth and responsiveness to changing community needs.
Guide fundraising initiatives, cultivating donor relationships, grant opportunities (where applicable), and community partnerships.
Fundraising & Development
Lead efforts to diversify and grow revenue streams, with a strong emphasis on cultivating community-based giving.
Inspire confidence among donors by demonstrating fiscal responsibility, transparency, and impact-driven results.
Qualifications
Strong leadership experience in nonprofit, community service, or mission-driven organizations (experience in food security or related fields preferred).
College degree in business administration or related fields; minimum of 7 years of work experience desired.
Demonstrated success in community engagement, fundraising, and partnership building.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire trust and build genuine relationships.
Proven financial management skills, including budget oversight, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
Ability to lead collaboratively, with humility, empathy, and a servant-leadership mindset.
Local knowledge of Kaua‘i and its communities preferred.
