The Sensor Simulation team at Anduril is building a platform to generate synthetic imagery for a variety of mission-critical applications: from SITL (software in the loop) and HITL (hardware in the loop) testing to machine learning data generation and user training simulations. As the Technical Lead Manager for Sensor Simulation, a balanced skill set is required—strong leadership to manage and inspire the team, deep technical expertise to lead projects, and a commitment to hands-on programming to stay directly involved in development. You will own the vision, roadmap, and technical excellence of the sensor simulation platform while managing and developing a high-performing team of engineers. What You'll Do
Product and Technical Roadmap: Develop and implement the strategic technical and product roadmap for the Sensor Simulation platform. Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Define and uphold the technical bar for the team. End-to-End Delivery: Oversee the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of our synthetic imagery pipeline. Domain-Specific Execution: Direct the development of sensor models and core capabilities. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with software, design, product, and operations teams. Team Management & Growth: Manage and provide career mentorship to a team of 3-6 engineers. Hands-On Contribution/Coding: Allocate approximately 50% of your time actively participating in the software development process. Required Qualifications
Security Clearance: Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance Team Leadership: At least 2 years of experience leading an engineering team. Programming Expertise: Proficiency in C++ or Rust, with strong coding skills and a deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and code optimization. Simulation Domain Experience: Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine, including building core simulation capabilities. Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Game Design, Robotics, or related fields. Domain Knowledge in Sensor Modalities: Have a deep understanding of how the physics of optical, infrared, and other sensor modalities. Graphics/Performance Profiling: Experience with GPU or graphics programming and performance analysis/debugging tools. Linux Environment: Experience development in Linux, including troubleshooting remotely deployed systems. Machine Learning Integration: Exposure to training machine learning models for computer vision applications. US Salary Range: $191,000—$253,000 USD Healthcare Benefits
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Additional Benefits
