Overview
As a Sr. Product Designer you will be a key contributor in improving the workflows and overall user experience for hundreds of thousands of insurance providers and consumers. You will partner with Product Design, Product Management, Product Owners, and Software Engineers to identify design problems and validate useful, usable, and feasible design solutions. You will join a small but growing team of experienced designers who prioritize user-centered platforms and cross-functional collaboration. Responsibilities
Engage in product definition discussions with Product Managers and Product Owners to identify user needs. Drive problem-solving methodology over solution-first approaches with Product and Engineering teams. Develop user testing strategy and mentor designers on a user testing framework. Conduct research including user interviews, user discovery, concept validation, and usability testing. Document and socialize usability findings with cross-functional teams. Translate research findings into insights, wireframes, presentations, and UX documents. Collaborate on developing and evolving visual language, interaction patterns, and the design system for Vertafore’s products, incorporating brand and voice. Facilitate design thinking workshops with users and internal teams. Create reusable, scalable visual design assets that fit into a design system and are consumable by developers. Build collaborative relationships with partner teams and participate in design reviews, mentoring, and learning from other designers. Present concepts, wireframes, data insights, and prototypes to users and internal teams. Partner with design leaders to drive Design Operations and processes and lead design direction on complex software products. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Effective communicator capable of facilitating working sessions and asking clarifying questions. Experience with universal and inclusive design practices. Proficient in design thinking methodologies, empathetic problem framing, and user-centered design concepts. Strong research skills: planning, recruiting, leading, analyzing results, and communicating findings and recommendations. Ability to articulate ideas, research, problems, and solutions in a diplomatic and persuasive manner. Proficient in leading design conversations with users and cross-functional teams. Experience with design systems or pattern libraries; strong visual design fundamentals. Understanding of user-centered and interaction design principles (controls, states, etc.). Proactive in identifying problems and delivering on-time, on-target work. Balance passion for craft with delivery commitments. Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, Axure RP, or equivalents. Qualifications
5+ years of professional experience in software, agency, or equivalent. Proficiency in user-centered design principles and data-driven design strategies. Experience with research methods including user interviews, data analysis, surveys, and usability testing. Experience working in an agile development process. Deep knowledge of design systems and interaction patterns. Collaborative mindset across Product Design and Development teams. Strong portfolio demonstrating problem framing, research, and visualization skills. Proficiency in design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe CC, Axure RP or similar). Additional Requirements and Details
