Overview
CONTRACTS AND GRANTS ACCOUNTANT role at JCC Association of North America. Report to the Director of Finance (DoF). The Government & Foundation Contract Accountant will be responsible for the management and reporting of a $4.3M portfolio of government awards and $1M in foundation and UJA grants. Key Responsibilities
End-to-end grants management including pre- and post-award activities Direct the contracting process with stakeholders to bring grants online, ensure funder guidelines, and coordinate budget preparation with program staff Maintain contract documents in an organized file system Respond to funder inquiries and follow through on open items Prepare monthly/quarterly financial and reimbursement reports aligned with the general ledger Collaborate with funders to resolve reimbursement issues and disallowances Coordinate with Program managers to review budget vs. actual status and plan actions Provide detailed budget vs. actual analyses to manage over/underspending Coordinate budget modification submissions with DoF and program staff to maximize revenue across grants Record and monitor Accounts Receivable related to grants; ensure revenue recognition per GAAP Track and follow up on reimbursement statuses with funders Provide anticipated reimbursement data to DoF for cash flow planning Complete grant closeout tasks (reconciliations, status reports, final invoices, POs, and budget balancing) Maintain funder equipment inventories as required Stay updated on funder invoicing/reporting requirements and attend trainings as needed Establish relationships with funders, primarily fiscal counterparts Coordinate with Payroll Manager & Accounting to adjust personnel allocations for contract billing Assist with time and effort reporting ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance Support DoF to meet funder and department deadlines Support the annual agency-wide audit including the Federal Single Audit Prepare supporting schedules and documentation related to the functional area Participate in government funding audits Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with government grants Experience with government agencies at Federal, State, and NYC levels (USDHS, NYSOFA, SED, DYCD, DOHMH, DFTA) Experience with MIP and government portal submissions (HHS Accelerator; PASSPort, GrantsGateway) preferred Strong verbal, written, and documentation skills Ability to work with all levels of staff and external parties Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment Excellent attention to detail, problem solving, and analytical skills Self-starter, quick learner, assertive, capable of working independently yet collaboratively Job Details
