District Partners is supporting a close, long-term client, a consultancy delivering solutions to a critical federal customer, in their search for a Windows Automation Engineer. This is a fully remote role with regional requirements in DC, Brooklyn, or Denver. The Windows Automation Engineer will lead automation efforts for Windows infrastructure, integrating on-prem and cloud environments while advancing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices. This role is hands-on, with a focus on scripting, CI/CD integration, and building resilient, secure systems that directly support mission operations. What you'll do: Design and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) for Windows environments (Active Directory, Group Policy, domain controllers, cloud-hosted VMs). Develop and maintain advanced PowerShell scripts and DSC configurations for automated setup, patching, and remediation. Enforce system configuration standards with Ansible, PowerShell DSC, or related tools. Integrate automation workflows into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps). Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure, leveraging event logs and performance metrics. Collaborate with software, security, and data teams to align infrastructure with mission needs. Participate in incident response, code reviews, and architecture discussions. Required Experience: 8+ years of professional experience with Windows infrastructure automation and engineering practices. Strong Windows Server expertise, including Active Directory, Group Policy, performance tuning, and security hardening. Advanced PowerShell scripting (modules, DSC). Demonstrated experience with IaC and configuration management (Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.). Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and git-based workflows. Exposure to IAM integrations (Okta, Azure AD, ADFS) and cloud platforms (AWS or Azure). Security certifications (Security+, Cloud+) preferred or ability to obtain. Requirements:
