Senior Accountant

Our client is a leading Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) based in Chicago, known for its diverse portfolio and commitment to excellence in property management and investment strategy. Position Overview: The Senior Portfolio Accountant will play a key role in managing the financial reporting and analysis for a portfolio of real estate assets. This position requires strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally with asset management and finance teams. Key Responsibilities: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties Perform variance analysis and provide insights to asset managers Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies Assist with external audits and tax filings Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts Support budgeting and forecasting processes Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required) Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in public accounting or real estate Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar) Excellent communication and organizational skills We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr, as well as benefits including 401(k) with company match, generous PTO and holidays, and opportunities for growth and development within the organization.
