The Department Manager, RF Communications is a leadership role responsible for directing the RF/Communications engineering team and aligning engineering efforts with business objectives. Job Summary The RF/Communications Department Manager oversees day-to-day operations of the engineering team, assigns resources, and ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. This highly technical role requires broad expertise in RF schematic design (UHF to V band), layout, manufacturing and testing, with broadband knowledge of RF and communications hardware/systems and experience producing qualified hardware/systems for space. The manager provides technical guidance, enforces design flows and processes, and maintains effective communication with other departments. The manager serves as the point of contact for technical inquiries and collaborates with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to align engineering efforts with business objectives. Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the engineering team Oversee the development and execution of projects Review ongoing efforts and rectify issues Support internal and external design and development reviews with related documentation Ensure adherence to Voyager quality standards, design and development processes, and standard operating procedures Ensure the engineering team remains focused on projects and company goals Check the team’s work for technical accuracy and validate methods used Ensure the team has adequate tools and resources; determine equipment, software licenses, staff and training needs Assist in project resource allocations to ensure balanced workloads Review team members’ work schedules and progress Promote a culture that rewards motivation and cooperation Coordinate work with other managers and staff Participate in proposals and trade studies, including evaluating contractor and subcontractor proposals for technical feasibility Review contract/proposals/opportunities with emphasis on SOW, technical requirements, data requirements and compliance; communicate findings to the engineering team Evaluate and approve strategies to bridge technical, programmatic, and personnel gaps in the engineering team Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent and 10 years of industry experience Experience with RF UC/DC designs, layout and testing Experience with Power Amplifiers (up to 10W) design, layout and testing Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects with production support Ability to quickly learn new technologies Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Preferred Qualifications
Experience with requirements development and analysis, specifications, engineering drawings, interface control documents, test plans/procedures/scripts/software, validation & verification plans Knowledge of space system designs, environments and operations Experience engaging government and commercial customers to advance projects through engineering management Proficiency with enterprise tools (ERP, PDM, PLM, quality, configuration management, and engineering design/analysis) Project management proficiency to plan, execute, and monitor projects Application instructions: Please click “Apply” to submit your application.
