At Spire, the Space Reliability Engineering team's mission is to protect, provide for, and progress the reliable operation of Spire's constellation of satellites, ground stations, and software through vigilant monitoring of availability, latency, performance, and capacity. We embrace the Site Reliability Engineering work style and apply it to Space. What You'll Do as a Software Engineer for the Space Reliability Engineering team
As a Software Engineer working with the Space Reliability Engineering team, you will be part of a small agile team. You will work on systems and tools that improve the efficiency of the satellite fleet. Areas include: Develop operational automation for mission execution, anomaly detection and resolution, space situational awareness, and performance monitoring. Develop a data platform that allows for flexible data storage and analytics. Analyze telemetry from Ground and Space Assets to ensure reliable and efficient performance. Maintain configuration control of all assets and enable rollout of updated software and configuration. Key Skills and Qualifications
Candidates should have experience implementing systems using Python, including integrating with diverse data stores and cloud services. They will need to interface with many teams across Spire to translate user needs into system requirements and collaborate to iterate on projects. 5+ years of professional software engineering, DevOps, or SRE experience. Familiarity with Linux, including Bash scripting and basic system administration. Familiarity with data analysis and data analysis tools. Proficiency with containers for development and production environments. Strong candidates will also possess skills in one or more of the following areas: 5+ years of experience with system development using Python. Familiarity with data backends such as S3, RDS, Postgres, Redis, and Elasticsearch. Experience with Databricks. Familiarity with Python data visualization libraries. Experience implementing monitoring and alerting systems using Grafana, Prometheus, or Nagios. Work Model and Compliance
Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position requires a minimum of three days per week in the office. Access to US export-controlled software and/or technology may be required; if needed, Spire will arrange necessary licenses. This is not something candidates need to have before applying. Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated base salary range is $130,500—$171,000 USD. Final base salary will be based on location, skills, experience, and qualifications. In addition to base compensation, roles may be eligible for annual equity awards and the employee benefits program, including vacation, sick and personal time off; optional medical, dental, vision, life coverage; a 401(k) plan; health and wellness reimbursement; and participation in Spire\'s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
