We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Python Software Engineer. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing and developing web service applications, strong knowledge of modern Python frameworks, and expertise with relational databases. This role requires excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to work collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams, and a passion for building scalable, reliable backend systems.
Responsibilities
Estimate, plan, and implement software development work. Collaborate with product managers to gather requirements and build or improve modules. Maintain and enhance the existing codebase, applying software engineering best practices. Troubleshoot and research reported issues, recommending solutions by evaluating trade-offs. Stay current with new technologies and adopt relevant ones for the team. Participate in peer reviews and contribute to continuous improvement. Deliver on assigned project objectives and timelines. Help set engineering direction for current and future applications. Qualifications
6+ years of experience designing and developing web service applications. Strong experience with web services/APIs (REST, JSON, OpenAPI/Swagger). Proficiency with modern Python and frameworks (FastAPI/Flask, SQLAlchemy Core, Pydantic, Httpx, Alembic, Pytest, Ruff, Pyright, or similar). Strong experience with relational databases, SQL query optimization (Postgres). Strong experience with Git, bug tracking, and collaborative software development. Excellent debugging, diagnostic, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a cross-disciplinary team with PMs, designers, and developers. Preferred Skills
Experience with containerization and DevOps (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, CI/CD). Basic knowledge of Data Engineering (ETL, Data warehouses). Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Self-directed, analytical, and eager to learn and improve. Type

$65-$78/h (DOE)
