The Transportation Manager will lead the strategic planning and execution of Chosen Foods’ transportation operations. This role focuses on continuously optimizing the transportation network to achieve the best cost balance between customer pickup and delivered freight. Responsibilities include managing lane bid initiatives, supporting high-priority operational projects, and delivering quarterly insights into freight-related inflation trends. The ideal candidate will collaborate across departments to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and elevate service standards, while positioning themselves for long-term career advancement within the organization. Key Responsibilities
Transportation Strategy & Network Optimization: Continuously assess the transportation network to ensure the most cost-effective balance between customer pickup and delivered freight. Monitor carrier performance, freight cost trends, and service levels to identify improvement opportunities. Lane Bid Management: Lead lane bid projects to secure competitive rates and reliable service, ensuring alignment with company cost targets and service expectations. Partner with Finance and Operations to evaluate bids and negotiate contracts. Operational Support & Project Leadership: Support the operations team on high-focus transportation and logistics projects to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction. Provide guidance on transportation routing, scheduling, and capacity planning. Market Insights & Inflation Tracking: Deliver quarterly reports on freight-related inflation, including cost drivers, market dynamics, and forecasted trends. Recommend mitigation strategies to offset cost pressures from inflation or market shifts. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Development: Work with Sales, Customer Service, Finance, and Operations to align transportation with overall business goals; contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements; demonstrate leadership potential for broader roles. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with preferred specializations in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field 3+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain management, preferably in a CPG or 3PL environment Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate cost-benefit scenarios Proven experience leading lane bid projects and carrier negotiations Knowledge of freight markets, transportation regulations, and inflationary cost drivers Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration skills Dedication to DEI&B
