Senior Director, US Medical Affairs - Head of Rheumatology role based in Cambridge, MA. This is a critical position within the US Medical Affairs (USMA) organization reporting to the Vice President US Medical, Dermatology and Rheumatology. The role has responsibility for zasocitinib Rheumatology programs/indications and is accountable for medical strategy, ensuring that TA and product-specific strategies are developed and executed in collaboration with the Medical Unit. You will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), represent USMA on internal committees and with external experts, oversee data generation activities (including phase 4 studies), coach/mentor team managers, and contribute to medical unit insights and cross-functional communications. Responsibilities

Strategic responsibility for zasocitinib rheumatology Phase 4 programs. Co-develop/coordinate with the medical unit and provide medical input into near-term and long-term strategic direction for assigned product/franchise. Manage development and ongoing updates to product-specific medical strategies in partnership with the medical unit, aligned with commercial brand strategy and global product teams. Collaborate with the Value and Evidence Generation (VEG) team to develop evidence generation strategy. Develop long-term lifecycle management strategy and tactics (HEOR). Maintain medical landscape and insights to inform strategy; leverage AI tools and data analytics to shape medical strategies and inform decision-making. Identify opportunities to leverage emerging AI technologies to improve rheumatology patient care and healthcare outcomes. Serve as the in-house medical and scientific expert for therapies within the assigned TA and represent Medical Affairs at internal and external meetings for zasocitinib rheumatology programs/indications. Generate insights through ad boards and field medical inputs; synthesize insights for medical unit and cross-functional stakeholders. Develop external KOL relationships and manage global interactions with US KOLs; partner with US Strategic Medical Alliances on external partnerships as appropriate. Accountable for budget and ongoing budget management in partnership with PM and TA Head. Partner with medical unit leads to ensure strategic alignment and execution of franchise/product medical strategy (grants, medical communications, publications, research, field medical, etc.). Lead internal engagement by attending regular meetings and representing Medical Affairs on cross-functional forums; provide input into confidential new business development. Demonstrate strategic enterprise thinking, leadership behaviors, and strong cross-functional influence. Minimum Requirements / Qualifications

Advanced Doctoral Degree (e.g., MD, DO, PhD, PharmD). 12+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience; 7+ years of relevant clinical practice, research, or academic experience. Experience with clinical research, publication activities, congress presentations, and public speaking. Dermatology and/or rheumatology experience. Proficiency in evaluating, adopting, and embedding AI-powered solutions within medical affairs to enhance internal processes and external stakeholder engagement. Ability to leverage AI tools and data analytics to inform and guide medical strategies. Commitment to ongoing education in emerging AI technologies and their implications for rheumatology patient care and healthcare. Upholding high standards of data privacy, ethics, and regulatory compliance in AI applications within medical affairs. Travel up to 30%, primarily domestic. About Takeda

Location: Cambridge, MA U.S. Base Salary Range: $228,900.00 - $359,700.00. The actual offer depends on qualifications, experience, and location. Benefits include eligible short-term/long-term incentives, health/dental/vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, disability coverage, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time off, holidays, and well-being benefits.
