Business Development Director - Real Estate Industry (TX/Chicago/Oklahoma)

Overview
RSM US LLP is looking for a dynamic Business Development (BD) Director to drive growth in the Texas/Oklahoma or Chicago market by selling Audit, Tax, and Consulting services to clients in public and privately held real estate entities, pension plans, institutional lenders/investors, REITs, opportunity funds, portfolio companies, joint ventures, developers, Fortune 1000 companies, and owners of diversified real estate. Position Summary: The Business Development Director will be responsible for driving growth of the firm’s professional services within the real estate industry (e.g., private equity, portfolio companies, corporate users, publicly-owned pension plans, REITs, institutional lenders and investors) and owner-managed real estate across all industry sectors within the Texas/Oklahoma market. The role represents all services provided by the firm’s three primary functional areas: audit, tax, and consulting. Services include but are not limited to tax and audit annuity contracts, as well as substantial business consulting engagements including Fund Administration, Technical Accounting Consulting, Financial and Accounting Outsourcing, Valuation, Risk/Internal Audit, SOC/Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404, IT/System Selection, Construction Cost Auditing and Construction Cost Segregation. The BD Director leads all aspects of the sales process, including prospect targeting, developing opportunity-specific sales strategies, and quarterbacking the entire sales process. Responsibilities include building and maintaining strong sales pipelines and forecasts, preparing and facilitating presentations/proposals, and closing sales and finalizing agreements with customers. The role involves collaborating with firm industry and line-of-business leaders to co-lead growth efforts through direct prospecting, networking, and participation in industry and professional groups and associations. The position provides a pathway to success with a competitive base salary and a lucrative, uncapped incentive compensation plan. A candidate with a proven track record in selling professional services is sought. Responsibilities
Sourcing and qualifying opportunities with companies not currently served by the firm. Executing the sales plan and process, coordinating internal and external resources to position the firm to win the business. Actively leveraging networking contacts, professional affiliations, industry groups, and related Centers of Influence. Collaborating with local and national industry leaders to identify and target key companies and discern existing clients, prospects, and related entities (e.g., joint venture partners, management companies). Supporting partners, principals, directors, and senior managers in cross-selling additional services to existing clients where appropriate. Working with local and national marketing resources to develop targeted go-to-market plans for industry teams. Providing ongoing feedback to National Sales Organization management regarding market opportunities. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree Minimum of 10+ years of experience selling professional services to corporations with revenues from $20 million to over $1 billion Experience leading complex multi-team, multi-decision-maker sales processes (primarily C-suite) Experience working with middle-market real estate companies (assets generally $100 million to $5 billion) Established network of COIs (banking, legal and professional services) to identify opportunities within assigned industry groups Ability to drive complex sales cycles from identification to close Experience managing RFP and SOW processes Experience leveraging a CRM for reporting and sales tracking Experience using social media for networking Excellent influence, negotiation skills, executive presence, and business acumen Self-motivated with strong time management Travel required (local and overnight as appropriate) Preferred Qualifications
Active network of C-level contacts in TX/OK market with focus on real estate Community involvement and activity with industry associations or civic/non-profit groups Experience at a Big Four or other national firm is a plus Strong communication, presentation, analytical, and organizational skills Compensation and Benefits
