1225 North East 2nd Avenue, Portland, OR Responsibilities
Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary Assist with processing of specimens when needed Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment Follow chain of custody rules when handling specimens and samples Requirements
Bachelor’s of science degree in biology or chemistry, or equivalent Prior affiliation with OFNHP is preferred 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory is required Previous Experience in Toxicology CLIA qualified for high complexity testing ASCP certification as a Medical Technologist (or equivalent) is a plus Ability to work independently and within a team environment Proficient with computers High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs Familiarity with laboratory information systems (especially Cerner Millenium and Horizon) are a plus Experience in a chain of custody and/or a forensic environment is a plus Experience with regulated and non-regulated drug testing is a plus Experience with automated testing systems, and/or mass spectrometers (operation and troubleshooting) is a plus Experience in sample preparation and purifications is a plus Experience in small molecule analysis is a plus Benefits
