PURPOSE Under the general direction of the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, the Director leads efforts to advance the enrollment reputation of the University through division staff, enrollment marketing vendors, and admissions professionals. Responsibilities include the use of visuals, multi-media, social media, and communications strategies to influence prospective students and other stakeholders, and to develop high quality, data-driven brand presentations and enrollment marketing and communications activities in print and digital space.
The Director manages a team of creative positions including print and digital design, photography and video, content creators and writers, and email/SMS communications specialists to increase inquiries, prospects, applications and yield. Oversees staff, contractors, and vendors to coordinate enrollment messaging and campaigns.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees strategy, operations, and staff within the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, including contracted enrollment communication specialists and other staff.
Manages projects and CRM platform for enrollment marketing and recruitment purposes.
Oversees design, launch, and strategy of plans, reports, and campaigns; evaluates social media enrollment strategies; oversees digital and print content from project scoping to final delivery.
Manages staff workflow and ensures deadlines and budgets are met.
Conducts regular status meetings with the Vice President and maintains project archives and reports.
Coordinates with contractors and enrollment vendors as needed.
Manages enrollment strategy and delivery across digital marketing channels to optimize the enrollment funnel.
Collaborates with Divisional leadership and UComm to ensure alignment with the VP’s vision.
Establishes and measures enrollment ROI and KPIs; uses analytics to evaluate and improve campaigns; manages SEO and Google Analytics with contracted vendors.
Grows CSUMB enrollment brand and builds internal partnerships to align enrollment marketing needs with university goals.
Uses data and UX research to guide content decisions and improve market segments; explores predictive analytics, automation, and AI to enhance marketing efficiency.
Stays current with marketing trends and higher education practices.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
Performs other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
Evenings or weekends may be required to manage urgent operations or campus emergency needs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to manage workflow and priorities for senior leadership and 22 divisional directors related to enrollment marketing.
Experience designing and implementing enrollment marketing campaigns with understanding of digital channels.
Experience in enrollment marketing in public higher education.
Proven skill in delivering creative marketing campaigns to educational audiences.
Knowledge of web and print design procedures; data storytelling and analytics.
Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience with CRM and marketing automation tools; SEO and analytics.
Ability to work with diverse university stakeholders and manage budgets.
Advanced proficiency with cloud tools (e.g., Google Apps) and Microsoft Office.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or similar field. Minimum of five years of progressively responsible work in high school and/or university marketing, advertising, brand management, or publication production. Master’s degree may substitute for related experience.
Must have the ability to complete Defensive Driver Training and provide proof of eligibility to operate a motor vehicle in California.
SPECIALIZED SKILLS
Ability to manage multiple assignments with deadlines; may require extra hours and a flexible schedule.
Strong customer service orientation and teamwork; project management and aesthetic judgment.
Experience in enrollment marketing campaigns, analytics, and managing creative teams associated with web, photo, video, email, and design.
Proofreading skills and attention to detail; ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to learn new systems quickly; proficient with cloud-based productivity tools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in communications or marketing.
Experience with project management software (e.g., Asana), CRM and email marketing tools (e.g., Salesforce).
Technical fluency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and ERP systems.
