Test Automation Engineer
to provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise to ensure FAA systems undergo rigorous, automated validation across development and modernization lifecycles. In this role you will design and implement automated testing strategies and contribute to testability assessments of system designs. This position offers exposure to federal contracting and high-visibility aviation programs. Responsibilities
Design, optimize, and scale automation frameworks that integrate into DevSecOps pipelines to enable rapid, accurate, and confident delivery of FAA systems. Design and maintain reusable automation libraries and frameworks. Manage defect tracking, root cause analysis, and automation-driven remediation. Ensure automation aligns with safety-critical and compliance-driven testing needs. Provide subject matter expertise on test automation strategies, best practices, and tools. Integrate automated tests into CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines to support continuous testing. Develop advanced automated test scripts for functional, regression, integration, and performance testing. Collaborate with engineers, architects, and product owners to ensure testability of system designs. Evaluate and recommend test automation tools and platforms aligned with FAA needs. Mentor test engineers and analysts on automation methodologies and coding practices. Conduct code reviews and framework audits to ensure automation quality and reusability. Generate and present automation coverage metrics, dashboards, and executive-level reports. Support FAA leadership in test readiness reviews, certification, and compliance activities. Lead automation strategy, framework design, and advanced testing efforts in support of the FAA. Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship Required. Ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust clearance. Bachelor's degree with 12 years of experience, or Master's with 10 years, or Associate's with 14 years, or HS diploma/equivalent with 16 years of experience. Proven expertise in test automation tools (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, JUnit, PyTest, etc.). Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, or similar). Experience integrating automated tests with CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps). Knowledge of test management tools (JIRA, TestRail, HP ALM). Familiarity with cloud-based automation testing in AWS, Azure, or hybrid environments. Strong understanding of API testing tools (Postman, REST Assured, SoapUI). Experience with performance and load testing automation (JMeter, LoadRunner). Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical system testing (preferably aviation or defense). Certifications such as ISTQB Advanced Test Automation Engineer, CSTE, or AWS DevOps Engineer. Experience with FAA NextGen modernization programs or aviation-related system testing. Familiarity with digital twin testing environments or simulation-driven automation. Background in AI/ML-driven test automation and predictive analytics for quality assurance. Experience contributing to federal or industry test automation standards. Direct FAA or NAS configuration management experience. Salary and Benefits Target Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. Salary is determined by factors including scope, responsibilities, experience, education, location, and contract considerations.
