Position Overview The VP of Construction is responsible for the achievement of the new shop opening goals of Dutch Bros. They will lead and manage all aspects of field construction execution of the new shop pipeline while serving as a cross functional partner to real estate, design & pre-dev, legal, operations, facilities, finance, etc. teams to ensure shop opening targets are met on time, within budget, and with expected quality. Job Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field 10+ years of progressing construction experience, including at national or VP level, with emphasis in QSR and drive thru developments Demonstrated ability to lead field construction teams with full accountability for cost, schedule, and quality performance Demonstrated expertise in single tenant, multi tenant, and large development drive thru construction. In-depth knowledge of construction codes, systems, means and methods in a wide variety of US geographies and jurisdictions. Credentials such as PMP, CCM, etc. are a plus High technology acumen with proficiency in Lucernex (Accruent), Pro Core, etc. Must be able to uphold Dutch Bros performance standards of collaboration, performance excellence, sense of urgency, openness to new ideas, inclusion & diversity, integrity, customer focus, and respect Strong leadership & coaching, field team management, and interpersonal skills Excellent organizational, analytical, relationship building/interpersonal and problem-solving skills Highly effective verbal and written communication skills Highly motivated, self-starter. This position is preferably based in Phoenix, Arizona, but we are open to remote candidates located in large metropolitan areas with easy access to major airports within the Dutch Bros footprint. Key Result Areas (KRAs) Responsible for Dutch Bros field Construction strategy and pipeline execution to meet company vision : Responsible for the field construction of new shop openings and market expansion while supporting real estate submittal pipeline and pre-development: Develop a comprehensive strategy for Construction team to accurately forecast and execute a multi-year, scaled pipeline (with a mix of ground lease, building lease, and build to suit development) schedule of new shop openings, enabling achievement of size and pace goals (aligned KPI goals) Analyze and adapt strategy to both proactively accelerate and mitigate risk of execution of the company’s shop opening goals Ensure new shop construction meets financial and legal requirements Oversee construction budgeting, bidding, and negotiation processes in line with company goals and objectives Develop a comprehensive strategy for the construction team to insure depth and performance of general contractors, sub contractors, developers, third party vendors, etc. to execute the new shop opening and geographic expansion strategy Create dashboards and presentations that clearly show plan progress, risk/issue tracking, and reporting to senior leadership and stakeholders Create and oversee tracking and cross-departmental and leadership reporting and communication Drive innovation and insights with better tools, data analytics, etc. Manage internal and external partner relationships; build and lead a team to support team objectives Develop and implement strategies for bidding & budgeting process, General Contractor & Developer coverage strategy, General Contractor & Developer performance management. Build and maintain infrastructure to support strategic objectives and efficiently execute initiatives Lead the field construction team of Directors, Construction Managers, and Construction Coordinators Oversee the construction team’s day to day activities, including team territory assignments and execution strategies Lead hiring decisions, onboarding/training, and coaching/development of team Liaise with Real Estate, Design, Legal, Operations, Facilities, Finance, etc. to ensure efficient processes and tracking of pipeline management between functions Manages day-to-day customer, partner, and/or vendor relationships Develop and cultivate relationships with program/project managers, general & sub-contractors, developers, third party vendors, potential business partners, and professional organizations Represent DB to local governmental entities and the public including facilitating community meetings and public hearings as needed Support activities and communications between stakeholders, consultants, and contractors including engineers, architects, and attorneys in order to deliver stores within required time-frames Physical Requirements In-Office Environment: Must be able to work in a busy, crowded, and loud office with frequent distractions and interruptions Must be able to collaborate in-person with occasional impromptu in-person meetings Office Conditions: Adaptability to typical office conditions, which may include exposure to air conditioning, heating, artificial lighting, and varying noise levels Mobility: Ability to sit, stand, reach, twist, stretch, and work at a desk for long stretches. Must be able to occasionally move or lift office items up to 25 pounds Hearing Requirements: Hearing must be sufficient or correctable to ensure clear understanding of spoken information, including participating in virtual meetings and phone calls. Use of hearing aids or other assistive devices is acceptable if needed. Reading and Writing Proficiency: Ability to read and write in English is essential for processing documents, drafting reports, and following up on necessary actions. Proficiency in written communication is required to handle job-related tasks effectively. Vision Requirements: Vision must be adequate or correctable to perform essential job duties, such as reading documents on a computer screen and using other visual tools. Use of corrective lenses or other measures to meet visual requirements is expected if needed. Technology Proficiency: Must be proficient in operating a computer and other office productivity tools such as printers, scanners, and collaboration software. Effective Communication: Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, clients, and other stakeholders via email, video conferencing, and other in office communication tools.
