This position reports to the Director of Tax and is primarily responsible for overseeing day-to-day tax operations, managing and supporting all aspects of corporate tax compliance and reporting, including quarterly and annual consolidated income tax provisions and tax return filings, audits, and cross-functional duties related to indirect taxes. Experience in the high technology industry is preferred.
Your impact
Tax Provision & Reporting: Manage the quarterly and annual income tax provision process, including global effective tax rate calculations, current and deferred tax expense, provision-to-return true-up analysis, and evaluation of uncertain tax positions (FIN 48).
Prepare and review analyses of deferred tax assets and liabilities, including valuation allowance assessments.
Develop tax memoranda, footnotes, and disclosures for internal and external financial reporting.
Partner with the Controller’s team to ensure tax provision is integrated into the financial close process, including SOX controls and supporting documentation.
Compliance & Operations: Manage income tax compliance processes, including timely preparation and filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns with external tax advisors; prepare and review quarterly estimated payments and extensions; support the annual R&D credit study; contribute to tax planning initiatives; lead federal and state tax audits and responses; oversee indirect taxes (sales, use, property) and related reporting, reconciliations, and audits; advise cross-functional partners on indirect tax implications for new products and initiatives; maintain tax engine software (Avalara) integrations with billing (Zuora) and ERP (NetSuite).
Strategy, Process & Projects: Support purchase accounting and integration of acquired companies; research and document technical tax issues; monitor changes in tax laws; mentor and develop tax team members; identify and implement automation opportunities and tax technology enhancements.
Qualifications
8+ years of income tax compliance and financial reporting experience with a public accounting firm and/or corporate tax department.
Technical knowledge of U.S. income tax matters, ASC 740, SEC disclosure standards, and federal/state tax compliance; experience in a technology environment preferred.
Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team; experience managing external auditors and tax advisors.
Proven success in improving income tax accounting processes and driving efficiencies.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Alteryx, CCH, and Bloomberg tools; NetSuite and Avalara experience is highly desirable.
Must have
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s in Taxation and/or CPA preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills; able to work cross-functionally and communicate findings clearly.
Excellent time management to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; high integrity and accountability; ability to build and improve processes.
Compensation & Benefits The base salary range for this role is
$152,000 to $190,000 . Actual compensation will depend on experience and other factors. This range does not include additional benefits or bonuses/commissions. Regular full-time employees are eligible for benefits.
