Accounting Manager - Real Estate Private Equity (Hybrid/Boston HQ)
Our client, a leading private equity real estate firm with HQ in Boston, is looking to add an Accounting Manager to their growing team. This person will be responsible for managing third-party property accounting, ensuring compliance with investor, lender, and tax requirements, and working cross-functionally with various internal teams. Responsibilities: Oversee the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of commercial properties Manage and review work performed by third-party property teams (who use MRI software) Ensure accuracy and consistency in rent rolls and lease maintenance, cash management and weekly check fundings, monthly and quarterly financial reporting, annual budgets and quarterly re-projections, and tax basis amortization and depreciation calculations Review and approve operating and tax escalations (estimates, reconciliations, gross-ups, expense caps, exclusions, and base year calculations) Manage loan compliance: mortgage payments, lender reporting, debt service coverage ratio (DSCR) calculations, and loan/escrow draws Prepare unaudited and audited financial reports (Fair Value and Tax Basis), including footnotes Collaborate with development teams to provide accounting support for capital and construction projects Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis as needed Ensure Joint Venture compliance: capital calls, distributions, waterfall calculations, and consolidated reporting Requirements: Minimum of 5 years of property accounting experience, primarily in commercial real estate Strong background in Funds and/or Joint Ventures Proficiency in fair value GAAP and tax basis accounting (IFRS experience is a plus) Experience working with Taxable REIT Subsidiaries (TRS) a plus Proficient in CAM recoveries and lease-level recoverable expense analysis Solid understanding of waterfall structures and income allocations We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all qualified candidates.
