As an
Inland Marine Underwriter , you’ll develop, grow and maintain a diversified book of business while working closely with agents and brokers and teammates to assess risks, determine premiums, set conditions and negotiate deals that maximize profitability and meet our shared business goals. Responsibilities include: Strategic Account Manager: Ensure a profitable book of Inland Marine business and grow successful agent and broker relationships Problem solver: Work with risk engineers and account assistants to crunch numbers and review data to make underwriting decisions Clear communicator: Maintain and nurture successful relationships with agents and brokers, while presenting proposals, negotiating deals and obtaining approvals Collaborative teammate: Contribute to overall team success and share successes and opportunities Conscientious professional: Document business and follow underwriting guidelines Qualifications Experience: 3-5+ years of relevant experience Experience with Inland Marine or multi-line insurance products Desire to interact with brokers, agents and Liberty customers Skills: Analytical, problem-solving capabilities Strong territory management skills Excellent communication skills Aptitude for building rewarding relationships with agents and brokers, peer underwriters and underwriting assistants Knowledge: Command of insurance finance and actuarial concepts Thorough knowledge of commercial insurance products, underwriting, risk selection, pricing and marketplaces Understanding of contract language, including regulatory and policy differences among applicable states Familiarity with continuous improvement processes and tools Education: A bachelor’s degree in a related field About Us Liberty Mutual is committed to fostering an environment where employees from all backgrounds can build long and meaningful careers.
