Atrium Health invites Physician Assistants and Acute Care Nurse Practitioners to join our Hospitalist Medicine team in Whiteville, North Carolina. This is a day shift, hospital-based practice with a team-based panel of physicians and ACP providers. Centralized professional support is provided by the Center for Advanced Practice. Responsibilities
Hospital-based practice with a team-based panel of physicians and ACP providers 7 days on and 7 days off, or as specified by the site Day Shift; Holidays, weekends and extended hours required Call is not required but shifts may include cross cover responsibilities Procedures not expected Designated clinical support staff including RNs and staff administrative assistants Teaching opportunities with ACP students and ACP fellows Eligible for PTO and year-end bonus based on yearly physician/ACP team goals Centralized professional support from the Center for Advanced Practice $2500 CME allowance Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program. Current license to practice as an NP or PA in North Carolina. Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required. BLS for healthcare providers from AHA required. Nurse Practitioners: master’s or Doctorate in Nursing Practice; certification as Adult Acute Care NP required. Physician Assistants: master’s degree; NCCPA certification preferred. 2+ years of experience preferred Demonstrates critical thinking and interpersonal skills in a fast-paced, complex hospital environment NC or SC licensure depending on practice locations Essential Functions
Perform initial and periodic medical history, physical examinations, and daily assessments Document findings and plans of care Perform minor medical and/or surgical procedures as applicable Write prescriptions and administer medications Order and interpret daily laboratory and radiology examinations Determine and document treatment plans Maintain thorough patient encounters and observations in the medical record Advocate for patients and participate in group meetings and policy development Education, Experience, and Certifications
DEA license required or eligible; prescriptive authority required where applicable Eligible to practice as an NP or PA in the state; BLS required with expiration > 90 days from start Nurse Practitioner: master’s or Doctorate in Nursing Practice; RN license; national certification; ACNP/AGACNP board certification preferred Physician Assistant: master’s degree; NCCPA certification preferred Pay and Benefits
