The Mission of the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) is to protect and promote the health of all San Franciscans. SFDPH operates through divisions including the San Francisco Health Network, Population Health, Behavioral Health Services, and Administration. Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center (LHH) is part of this system. Role Description

This position functions as one of two top nursing executives for Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center (LHH). The Directors of Nursing (DON) are responsible and accountable for all nursing functions and activities of LHH. This is a senior executive-level role reporting to the Chief Executive Officer/Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) with indirect reporting to the SF Health Network Chief Nursing Officer. The DON leads clinical operations in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, nursing standards, and facility policies to provide appropriate care and services to residents. The DON also guides the annual Facility Assessment, develops new clinical programs, establishes policies and objectives, maintains regulatory compliance, and performs related duties. This role makes decisions that impact the entire facility and supervises LHH-related functional areas. Under general direction from the LHH COO/NHA, the DON will: Plan, organize, direct, supervise and evaluate all nursing services provided in the facility Ensure nursing department compliance with federal, state and local regulations and implement core nursing programs Participate in the development of the Facility Assessment and recommend updates Manage the nursing department to maintain quality standards of care and advise medical staff, department heads, and NHA on nursing matters Review daily work assignments to ensure regulatory compliance and provide consistent staffing when possible Assist in care planning for residents, including rehabilitative/restorative activities and coordination of therapies, and ensure plans are reviewed/modified as needed Ensure timely Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) / Minimum Data Set (MDS) processes Oversee monthly Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities Foster a culture of safety and lead QAPI subcommittees across clinical units Conduct facility rounds to assess care, environment, equipment, and report issues to the NHA Assist Pharmacy in developing and updating policies for medication storage, administration, and control Evaluate recommendations from committees related to nursing services Collaborate with Infection Prevention to ensure infection control practices and PPE use Plan and schedule timely in-service training for nursing staff Supervise and delegate delivery of nursing care and ensure physician orders are implemented Additional responsibilities include budget review and management for LHH nursing; analyze current billing and financial systems supporting LHH nursing operations; interpret data to identify patterns and trends; mentor and build training programs to improve performance and outcomes. The DON performs other duties as assigned and required. Qualifications

Education:

Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university AND License:

Current, valid, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the State of California AND Experience:

Four (4) years of verifiable, full-time experience as a Director of Nursing Services or a similar clinical management position, including supervision of professionals Education Substitution:

Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the degree up to a maximum of two (2) years. One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours. Overtime hours are not included in the calculation. Important Note:
