Overview
Performs duties under the direction or supervision of a licensed medical practitioner or a registered nurse. Responsible for conducting a focused assessment of the patient to include vital signs and gathering data, implementing established plans of care, and evaluating effectiveness of treatments in the medical practice setting. May float to other practices within the region providing operational support as needed. What You Will Do
Accurately completes all required clinical documentation consistently per Riverside Medical Group standards. Maintains documentation for quality assurance to include point of care testing, medication logs and annual wellness visits. Works with providers to ensure care gaps are routinely addressed with each patient. Documentation is accurate, legible and completed same day. Knowledgeable and skilled in lab functions and lab proficiency testing. Maintain excellent clinical competency by adhering to the standard clinical expectations for Riverside Medical Group, including updating, verifying, and maintaining patient records by properly interviewing the patient and confirming the purpose of visit. Prepare the patient for examination by obtaining vital signs proficiently. Prepare and sanitize exam rooms before and after patient appointments. Administer medications and vaccines under the supervision of a physician. Assist with processing prescription refill requests for approval and forwarding to pharmacies. Maintain medical inventory of supplies and keep exam rooms stocked appropriately. Ensure equipment is in operating order and facilitate preventive maintenance when needed. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations including scope of practice, HIPAA, and OSHA standards. Complete required competencies and education to maintain skill level to provide safe patient care. Provide patient education as needed and explain medications prescribed. Educate patients about the importance of completing registration and medical history forms as it relates to their care. Provide patient follow-up with urgency regarding lab calls, patient phone calls, prescription fills and refills, referrals, and appointment scheduling. Answer telephone calls from patients, pharmacies, physicians, vendors, etc., by close of business. Communicate lab/pathology results and schedule additional tests per provider order. Assist with obtaining proper reimbursement from insurance by performing pre-authorizations for prescription drugs, procedures, and patient tests. Demonstrate the ability to build trusting collaborative relationships with a multi-disciplinary team to support patient care needs and actively participate in meetings as assigned. Qualifications
